Paris City is composed of
20 districts (Arrondissement in french). They are very different and their populations
are not the same at all. On the left side of the River "La Seine", we have what is called "La Rive Gauche". You will find there very Rich and Bourgeois places such as the 7th arrondissement (Tour Eiffel), the 6th (Saint-Germain) and the 5th (Mouffetard). All these districts are very lovely places and full of tourists. If you come to Paris, it's almost sure you'll visit these places. You have also in "Rive Gauche" very parisian districts with high-middle-class inhabitants in places such as Montparnasse or Vaugirard. The 13th district is known as "China Town" and
you can visit it, it's a cool and friendly place.
The Right side of "La Seine" is the biggest of Paris. It can be divided in 3
parts.
1 - The West is very Rich (Trocadero, Champs-Elysees, Madeleine, Opera etc...), full of professional offices and Luxe Shops.
2 - The Center of Paris is of course very animated. You will find there "Le Marais" with many Gay bars and restaurant, "Le louvre", "La Bastille" very fashion or "Le sentier" that
is a well-knowed wholesale place, especially for clothes.
3 - To finish, the North and East of Paris are less interesting for tourists.
Even if you'll find there Pigalle and Montmartre, these districts have no other
interests for tourists, and some can even be dangerous if you have the "tourist look",
such as the 19th and the 20th arrondissement.
